The Gambia village life tour in 7 days

Day 1: arriving in The Gambia
You will be picked up from the airport of Banjul to bring you in 30 minutes to Guesthouse Kairoh Garden in the fisherman’s village Tanjeh (Tanji). Kairoh means peaceful and that is what you can expect from this African guesthouse in a large garden full of mango trees

Day 2: South Gambia: Tanjeh
You will have a walk in the village and visit the schools, the clinic and the mosque. You will visit the Tanji Village Museum where you get an insight into the Gambian society in a nutshell. In the afternoon you will go to the colourful fishing site of Tanjeh, where you can see the offloading of the boats and the working of the fish smoking factories.

Day 3: South Gambia: Tanjeh
Today you go out with a Gambian. This gives you an insight into the everyday family life.

Day 4: North Gambia: Kuntaur
Early in the morning you will travel toBanjul, the capital of The Gambia. In this governmental town you will take the ferry to cross the riverGambiato the north bank. From there it is a four hour drive to Kuntaur. Here you will stay at guesthouse Kairoh Garden Kuntaur on the bank of the Gambia river, surrounded by rice fields.

Day 5: North Gambia: Kuntaur
From Kuntaur we explore the rural countryside: the rice fields and community gardens. You will visit various villages, projects and people to get an impression of life in the poorest region of the Gambia. When the water level of the river is low, you can take a boat safari of about 2.5 hours to Baboon Island in the Gambia Nature Reserve Park. If you are lucky, you can see hippos, crocodiles and monkeys along with various species of birds in exuberant vegetation.

Day 6: South Gambia: Tanjeh
Travel day to Tanjeh with several stops.

Day 7: South Gambia: Tanjeh
In the morning you can join the African woman to prepare the lunch. But it is also possible to visit the colourful market in Serekunda or a guided walk through Abuko Nature Reserve.

Day 8: Leaving dag
On the last day you can take some rest and prepare yourself to return back to your country. We will make sure that you will arrive at the airport on time.
