Kuntaur

Kairoh Garden Kuntaur is located upcountry near Janjangbureh (Georgetown) on the banks of the Gambia River. It has twelve rooms in three different premises. Because it is more hygienic, we build shared sanitary facilities in the backside of the compound in a separate building. The restaurant offers simple (African) dishes which are prepared with care, containing local ingredients. It also offers stunning views of the Gambia River and is the perfect location for watching the sunset. Guests can also go fishing in the afternoon or evening, by boat or by simply using a stick and fishing line on the river bank in order to afterwards enjoy the day’s catch.
Kairoh Garden Kuntaur is also a good choice as part of an excursion of several days to the region. Kuntaur is surrounded by rice fields and Wassu, noted for its concentration of stone circles and weekly market on Mondays, is located only two kilometres north. In Kuntaur it is possible to rent small boats to visit the River Gambia National Park (‘Baboon Islands’) for example. A trip to the neighbouring villages by donkey car is also an excellent way to encounter the lifestyle in the African countryside.
